Wanting You (a poem by Martie Coetser)
65
.
Mornings when the sun warms me
so tender with silver rays of light
and my coldness radiates misty clouds,
I don’t need you, man.
.
By noon when I am hot and beaming -
voluptuous brilliance among the stars
where volcano’s erupt in me spontaneously,
I don’t need you, man.
.
When the sun honors me with exquisite colors
to be relished by heavy humid darkness,
I sigh satiated with passionate love -
I don’t need you, man.
.
I am earth; you are human
my love for you is unconditional.
You are the one needing me;
I don’t need you; I simply want you.
.

Brilliant imagery. Great metaphors. I love it. Thanks for sharing.
That is definitely an interesting poem you've written Martie. Now if I could only figure out what you were talking about, I might have said something different. LOL! :)
That was so sweet. Its much better to want someone than to need them. I wonder how many people will actually get that.
Me right!!?? Oh Martie, I knew you loved me! I just knew it!!
Seriously, this is beautiful, and so far out of my league. When you do it, you do it real good my friend!
jim
wonderful and full of great messages. voted up.
Great images for the mind to savor....nice job!
Excellently composed and brilliant twist at the end, making the whole poem a singular double-entendre. And the message is spot-on!
Up in all categories!
Martie I don't mind saying your one of if not the very best writer of this kind of sentiment and thought on the site. Your guaranteed to raise the blood pressure in a man to unacceptable levels but let it rise and rise again and many more of the like dear lady.
Sista,
You know how to sizzle... and are clearly 'not' from the Victorian days!
Voted Up and Beautiful. Love, Maria
The personification of the earth is wonderful. You have put the message clear.
Love without need, a fantasy indeed. Lovely...
Voted up and beautiful! I love those pics. Now if I got this right this was like putting earth into the role of a woman. Love the flow of the poem.
what a powerful and beautiful poem. loved it! vote way up!!!
A brilliant and descriptive poetic tribute to passion. Almost symbolic with Earth, wind and fire erupting in your soul and showing who really needs who. Man/woman come from the earth, separated they are nothing.
With their combined strengths they can move mountains with their lusts and love for each other. Well done my poetic genius. You moved me.
Vincent said it all, Martie. You are a passionate, beautiful, loving, intelligent, poetic woman who also knows how to write. And write well! Lovely, m'luv. And deserving of an Up!
Beautifully done! I love it!
I tell my husband - want, need and desire are all different things!
Beautiful Poem. I love the photo's too.
It made me feel envy - I need and I want something bigger [the first version of "bigger" was "begg..."] than myself, capable of managing the tides and ebbs...
I guess I am in the begging mode - Send me the MAN who can. Because I CANT. I cannot take it alone. I will admit that I need him and I want him and I accept him.
- Auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu......
Silence came back.
Silence.
The Power of Silence.
The Power is Within You.
The Universe:
"You don't need."
"You don't need."
"Cope."
"Hope".
"Live".
Be alive.
Good-bye.
Martie my friend..I like this. Love without ties, the best kind. To be able to say, " I don't need you. " Awesome feeling...
The world was here before our species, and it will be here after our species dies out. We may fancy ourselves masters of the world, but when it comes down to it, we are just another era of inhabitants on this planet. We should feel loved that the Earth hasn't swallowed us whole yet.
This was lovely. I loved the use of personification and imagery. I voted this up and beautiful. :)
The images you selected go so well with your beautiful words. Let the sun shine!
As others have said, this is beautiful and so well written. It also causes me to think about God. He made mankind because He wants a relationship with us and not because He needs us. As we are made in His image we also want others. Just lovely.
Fantastic Martie! very clever and well chosen images.
voted up, best wishes Lesley
Hahaha, that's lovely.
Martie, I don't need you I want you. Lovely. Need is a selfish word. It is related to my needs. But want is a holistic word. It is related to my inner feelings. Want has no desire except to be together. Be it the earth or a man or a woman the feeling is same. Voted up excellent and meaningful.

Wow...such a beautiful relation ship between man and our mother Earth. Beautifully expressed, Martie.
Words, Need and Want have also been very well defined :)
Loved it and voting it way up!
Martie, this sizzles with sensuousness.I love the way the 'wants' and need' are captured and the way the poem flow and the metaphorical relationship between Gaia and man.
I am earth; you are human
my love for you is unconditional.
You are the one needing me, man!
I don’t need you; I simply want you.
Beautiful!
Loved this poem. I so agree that healthy love is when a woman and a man love each other because they want to and not because they need to.
I, like Hyphenbird, also took this as a metaphor for God's love for man.
Voted up, useful, awesome, beautiful and interesting.
Now this is what I call a poem! It's great to have that wanting feeling. Very different emotion than simply needing someone I always think.
I love that passage
'By noon when I am hot and beaming -
voluptuous brilliance among the stars
where volcano’s erupt in me spontaneously,
I don’t need you, man'
I must check out more of your hubs if they are all as good as this.
Vote up and beautiful!

Wow this was great and I love your choice of pictures too. Hot, hot, hot!
..well I can learn from this - very basic and direct and that is what makes this very much a masterwork - love and lust and affairs of the heart are all very basic and direct emotions I would say and you have captured that essence perfectly here my Muse of Martie and I will see you with this on my Facebook marquee/homepage with a direct link back here - lake erie time 7:07pm
and what I have been meaning to ask you about our new film and music group - I would like to get 100 members in a month or so and with the world time clock on our side I would like to see participation of some kind every hour of the day and night - how can we find more/new members and promote this in such a way - any ideas or suggestions?
holly Charlize!!

Martie, you have blossomed into a beautiful, sensitive poet. I know it has always been simmering under the surface, but now baby, it is great to see you unleash the passion. Beautiful imagery here and a loving message, "I need you." net:) x
I believe that most of us need to be wanted, and want to be needed.
