A poem in the shade of erotica, published by Augustine A. Zavala, has touched me in many ways. First of all the effect of the poem surprises me –To be honest, it was the first time ever I swallowed my breath (more than once) while reading a poem.

On reviewing I noticed the simplicity of the poem - ordinary, unpretentious words revealing a man’s natural yearning to make love to the woman he desires. Not even between the lines I could detect signs of perversion or chauvinism, which are tendencies of average men that summarily change me into an ice box.

The poem made me realized the preciousness of a relationship between a man and a woman who love and trust each other completely and especially in their most intimate zone.

Romance and erotica are not my fortes; I am too much of a philosopher, moralizer and even dictator. But Augustine A. Zavala’s poem challenged me to come forward with a response.

Let’s see if I am able to respond with flair on his poem.

Please read A.A. Zavala’s poem before mine -

The Space of our Love

The sound of your voice, my darling,

flows through my veins and melt me for you -

Speak to me, don’t stop, let your words

melt lingering grievances in my heart as well.

-

Whisper your sensual desires in my ear

Demand my body, heart and soul

with your hands and lips and titillating tongue

break my resistance and make me your slave.

-

Don’t stop, don’t rush, just give me your heart

I need more of your voice and some of your soul

hiding deep in your eyes behind the smouldering lust

of the man in your flesh, the lover I adore.

-

I feel, my love, your hands caressing my back

releasing your desires to shiver through my body

Do you feel my hands holding your face

for my lips to explore the contours of your mouth.

-

With the tip of my tongue I give you my reins

and the right to fly me to your secret world

where nothing exist except you and I

compatible in the rhythm of love.

-

Your hungry kisses reveal your languish

and make me moan with delight

because it’s me you desire and trust while

luxuria devours the power of your mind.

-

In your secret world we may loose control

We may laugh, we may cry, we may roar and scream

and break - the space of our love has no boundaries

we may hover forever beyond the end of no end.

-

Exploring with you my darling the depths of love

Is all I wish to do every day of my life

Don’t let me go, keep me in your chamber of passion

let us spend our lives in the space of our love.

WHOA.... My toes actually curled.

I have to say that this piece eclipsed my poem and moved the intimate, erotic, and sensual needle off the charts. I have to say that I don't understand why you think you don't have the knack to send a surge of electricity through the body of the most clueless man in the form of prose.

Any man, young and or old, dumb or dumber, has skills or no skills, should read this poem to get a clue on how to create and sustain intimacy. We like to think we know what women want, but come here and read and see if you truly know. Stunning write, I will be drawing the drapes and sitting alone for bit. Continuing to recover from the sensual cascade.

Wayne Brown – I could not resist the challenge, and I must say I’ve enjoyed the write. Just not sure about the word ‘titillating’ – its connotations? So I hope somebody will tell me. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Rosemay50 – Oh my, this is like walking on thin ice. I know just one word can change it from classy to pleb – and not necessarily by me, but by the reader and his/her perception of a word or entire phrase. Therefore I really appreciate your comment. Thanks!

Beautiful, sensuous and erotic. I love A.A.'s poem and I love yours and also the tribute to him that prefaces this poem.

Agree with everything A.A. wrote in his comment and if poor Mckbirdbks does have a heart attack, you may just be responsible! (smile)

Voted up across the board (included funny because of the comment from Mckbirdbks.)

What a wonderful poem. Thanks for sharing it.

Martie got her groove and it shimmers and glows..

You tell it like it is and it explicitly flows

Like sweet red wine that was left to age

You opened the door wide to exit the cage

I feel a sweltery adventure is just over the hill

Now if we can just find old Slick to foot the bill

Your poetry of love sizzled off the page

Soon your passionate novels will be all the rage....

It takes a travel back in time to remember Slick, Hee

Cheers.....

A.A. Zavala – I’m smiling-smiling-smiling. Really thrilled because I’ve managed to curl your toes :)) Shall we call it revenge?

Augustine, as a writer I am very much like a woman giving birth to a child – never 100% sure if the baby will be healthy and without any deformities. I must say after this one I feel inspired to write another 2-3, keeping Song of Songs in mind – maybe a trilogy. Maybe the next one about the lover’s looks... ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’.

Mmmm...

Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for being such an awesome lover in Cyberspace... :)))))

Thanks, Ruby. I really appreciate your support.

Whooohooo, you go girlfriend!! It is true that "50" is the new "20" after reading "this right up in here...!"

While I only had a few private "thoughts" in response to AAZ's sweetly formatted poetry, you have developed a masterpiece that speaks for so many of us women! These two poems are a duet and I would love to see them published, with others by you both! I would consider you, Martie and Augustine a "master blend"!

Along with Gail (and because I am still laughing from Mike's comment), I voted UP & across the board, mar.

skye – Hi, my always-sparkling friend. I agree with you – Making love to someone you love with all you heart has a sacred depth many people never discover in their lives. The fact that you love this poem, Patti, means that I’ve successfully managed to ‘paint’ a picture of a woman who truly loves her lover. Thanks a lot for your comment.

A.A. Zavala – I’ve inserted the most famous love scène in here – Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in ‘Ghost’. Of course blushing, but why not rub it in while I have the opportunity?

Although I’m blushing all the way I must give the two of us an A+. We’ve created a beautiful scène of a man and a woman in a fabulous relationship. All my compliments to you, for your poem is absolutely awesome. Another very special and adorable male quality you have exposed in your poem came to mind, and this will surely crumbles the heart of most women: A man’s true and honest confession that he NEEDS the woman he loves, her voice in his ear and her arms around his head, etc – opposed to the arrogant approach of most men - that they have a birth-right to take a woman whenever they get horny. Swallowing my breath... blushing.... Oh my, it is too easy to be open and honest all alone in my cozy home, facing only a computer screen :)))

thebluestar – I’m so happy to know you like this, Annette. I was really not sure about this... When one writes about love, and especially about making love, you are in the twilight zone between sensualism and vulgarism. Just one wrong word and you’re out. And you know English is not my native tongue! Though I must say it is much easier to write sensual in English than in my mother-tongue, Afrikaans. The words in our language vocabulary are really in my opinion too harsh and vulgar to describe intimate actions – as it is in Dutch and German as well. Thanks so much for your support :))

Martiie, you've certainly touched upon the real 'hot spots' for a woman, which are always a mixture of senses, mind and body making a total response capable of carrying us away into a different sphere than the ordinary everyday. Very well done. Your choice of that beautifully erotic "Ghost" love scene and music make for a perfect illustration. When both partners are caught up in it to the same realm, it is truly magic.

I happened to have watched "Titanic" again earlier in the evening and its love scenes between Kate Winslet's and Leionardo di Caprio's characters have a similar combination of passion, purity and discovery, though not quite as erotic as Patrick's and Demi's here. The tragedy in each of the stories possibly intensifies the impact of the love, as well.

It was done in such good taste, full of emotion and intrigue. Vinaya Ghimire – Thanks for telling me. Women’s basic desire to be intimate is pure and unselfish; they don’t ask much – only true love.

MartieCoetser profile image

MartieCoetser Hub Author 7 months ago

Nellieanna – I love the way you stress the result of a man’s actions to be - ‘carrying us away into a different sphere than the ordinary everyday.’ There are so many things keeping a woman stuck in the ordinary everyday. Men must realize the power of their voices and words. Talking to a woman, telling her she is needed and beautiful and why, is certainly today the best way to get her in ‘the cave’.

Before I experienced true love for the first time (in my thirties), romantic scenes in movies irritated the living daylight out of me. I associated all kisses and hugs with sex... “OMW, there they go again.... animals!” were my thoughts. But thanks to that very special man, who had really loved me with all his heart, I’ve learnt to distinguish between beautiful love-scenes and love-poetry and common yielding to the demands of the crocodile brain.

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion about intimacy with us, Nellieanna. I will never stop praising you for being you - my mother in Cyberspace :))))

Sunnie Day – Your approval of this poem really means a lot to me. Loving a man and allowing a man to love us is a ‘holy’ issue for us women. It is very difficult to explain our needs and desires with words. Only one word can ruin our fantasy – our idea of perfect intimacy. It is important for men to realize how much we treasure their touches and on what high pedestal we see them as lovers. Thank you so much for your kind and profound comment.

Alastar Packer – I never-ever thought I would be able to write a poem like this. Blame it on Augustine; he seduced me ))) But so we inspire each other to explore all genres. It is so good to know your opinion about these poems is positive, Alastar. Thanks a lot.

But now, here you are, only to blossom more beautifully than ever, and the better for personal knowledge of the difference between experiences so that the wonderful is truly wonderful and the other needn't haunt you. Your poetry here is not only a lovely expression of your feelings of love, but a triumphant victory over forces that inhibited them for too long. Hugs, dear one!

Nell Rose – This is my first try, so why don’t you give it a try? It is not that easy to find the right words to keep erotica on the sensual side of hard porn. The latter disgust me, but I do appreciate soft and sensual erotic writings. And really, words are absolutely powerful in this genre. Sadly words that may disgust one, may not disgust another. Even lyrical words, describing the spade not as a spade but as a metaphor of some kind, can be disgusting. Very-very thin ice to walk on here. I’m giving erotica another go in a short-story. So hold your thumbs for me. I really-really don’t want to reduce lovemaking to a common activity on the same level as sport and drugs. In my eyes it is supposed to be a special and almost sacred interaction between two souls and not only two bodies. Thanks for leaving your opinion, Nell. Much appreciated!

SilverGenes – Since I’ve met you in Hubs your opinion means a lot to me, and I am really extremely glad to know you regard this 1st try of mine in this genre as sensual. A.A. Zavala had started it with his poem ‘Just tell me’. It hit me for a six and so I’ve decided to respond with some female expectations and desires. Then thebluestar responded with ‘Bring in the clown’.... and that was the beginning. Last October we were doing Halloween.... and now this year we see fires of love all over the show... :)))) So when will we see yours?
